Compassion Studies
Lesson 4 – “Energy Anatomy of the Awakening Heart”

1)  If you feel most of the activity in your Heart at the front of your Heart this means that you are most apt to serve those in personal relationships in a Compassionate manner.

  Is this you? Does this sound like how you would describe yourself?

  • I am a loyal and caring partner in my relationships whether those relationships are casual or personal.
  • I am most comfortable in one-to-one relationships.
  • I find it easy to be Compassionate towards others.
  • I consider myself to be a very good friend to others.
  • I am friendly and kind to new people I meet.
  • Sometimes I take better care of others than I do myself.
  • I am not comfortable being responsible for the well-being of a group of people.

Challenge: to show the same Compassion to others in your broader, global community.

Personal Declaration:
“I intend to be fully present in the best of me – and so awaken my Heart. My biggest challenge, and one I will accept when I am prepared to do so, is to feel comfortable expressing my Compassion to a larger community.”

2) If there is more activity at the back of your Heart this means you are better at serving others than yourself or those closest to you.

  Is this you? Does this sound like how you would describe yourself?

  • I am very good at addressing the needs of others.
  • I am aware of others peoples’ feelings.
  • I respond quickly and easily when others are troubled.
  • I have many friends and acquaintances – all of who bring me joy and comfort.
  • I am good at caring for myself – but probably slightly better at caring for others.
  • I do not have lasting personal relationships, but I am OK with this because all of my relationships have been meaningful to me.

Challenge: to extend the same Compassion to those in your personal relationships as you do to those in your more impersonal relationships.

3)  If you feel a lot of activity or quivering in the center of your Heart (side to side movement) then you probably know well how to Love yourself.

  Is this you? Does this sound like how you would describe yourself?

  • I take care of myself.
  • I make sure I feel fulfilled because I follow through on my promises to myself.
  • I make choices that serve the Highest Good in my life.
  • I do not lose myself when I am in a relationship.
  • I do not worry too much about other people because I realize that I am the best I can be when I take care of myself.
  • I think that most people do not take responsibility for their own actions.

Challenge: to expand the Self-Love to others.

4)  If you feel a spiraling in the center of your Heart, you have a deep Love for others.

  Is this you? Does this sound like how you would describe yourself?

  • I deeply Love my family and friends.
  • I feel a meaningful connection to my fellow human beings.
  • I have dedicated myself to causes that serve the many – whether they have a global impact, are community centered or related to my close friends and family.
  • I long to be more involved with protecting the planet because I revere all life on Earth.
  • I feel my dedication to others eclipses the petty concerns I may have about my own life.

Challenge: to Love yourself as deeply as you Love others.

5)  If you feel your Heart is most active, down (or at the bottom) then you are good at being present and Loving in your life on Earth.

  Is this you? Does this sound like how you would describe yourself?

  • I am truthful about what I do and do not desire.
  • I am present and aware of the What Is in my life.
  • I am practical, and I am a realist.
  • I am in a Loving relationship.
  • I have many meaningful relationships in my life.
  • I believe that when people help each other all of their problems are solved.

Challenge: to connect to Love at its Divine, infinite source.

Personal Declaration:
“I intend to be fully present in the best of me – and so awaken my Heart. My biggest challenge, and one I will accept when I am prepared to do so, is to work on connecting to and trusting in the unconditional Love of the Divine.”

6)  If you feel your Heart as being most active, up (or at the top) then you are adept at receiving Divine Love.

  Is this you? Does this sound like how you would describe yourself?

  • I know the Love of the Divine, and I have complete Faith in it to support me no matter what happens in my life.
  • I watch other people derail their lives because they do not have Faith.
  • I know I am very adept at receiving the unconditional Love of the Divine.
  • I enjoy being alone and basking in the Beauty of Divine Love.
  • I would rather practice my spirituality than perform the duties required to thrive on Earth.

Challenge: to share this Love with those you know in your life.
